We began our Monday morning at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Coshocton. One of my favorite parts of being in Chorale, besides the music of course, is being able to catch up with my friends who I haven’t seen recently. It’s reassuring to know that so many people have your back musically and personally!
We fine-tuned a few of our pieces at morning rehearsal, and shortly after, we were on the road again and embarked on our first stop to Marion! To ensure that everyone gets a chance to mingle, we have randomized bus partners. I had the pleasure of sitting with Andy! (we have the cutest matching cards— she was a cookie and I was milk). It was a great chance to catch up with her, and gush about our pets!

Once we arrived at Prospect Street UMC, we briefly rehearsed our processional and recessional. This is important, since every space we rehearse in is different. Our dinner was provided by the church and was absolutely delicious! We are so thankful for their time and effort and a nourishing meal of chicken and rice, yummy desserts, and CHEESE QUESADILLAS.
The concert itself was exceptional. I’m very proud of everyone! It is beautiful to see our growth throughout tour and our year together. By fixing even the tiniest of details, it can make a huge difference. I think that is one of the most important things the Chorale has taught me: every detail is important. 🙂
After our concert, we are encouraged to mingle with the audience members. We would not be able to continue performing without our gracious and supportive audiences who truly understand our message. Some of those lovely individuals host the singers and staff in their own homes, giving us a place to sleep for the night. It’s a great way to connect with the audience on a deeper level, strengthening our relationship between the communities we interact with.
My homestay was with the Huffs. I stayed with them last year and I was very happy to be back. They are the most kind people. Their dog, Max, was quite the bundle of joy. We certainly enjoyed watching TV with him!
I am so excited for tomorrow, and I cannot wait to make endless memories and create music with the people I love most!
Yours Truly,
Emily Maple
