Yesterday morning, the 25th edition of the Cardinal Chorale gathered at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington, Ohio for the annual Post-Christmas Concert. This was the first time many of the Chorale members have seen each other since the big Anniversary Weekend in early October, so of course the room was filled with sporadic hugs and smiles before we got to work. After the reuniting came to a simmer, we sat in our assigned pew seats and began warm-ups with Mr. Vaughn. Once warmed-up, we began our first of many rehearsals for our concert later that evening. We spent some time working on our only Christmas song, “Do You Hear What I Hear,” as well as other songs from the second half of our concert. Before we knew it, lunch time was here where our seats were assigned by drawing a card out of a Santa hat. A special thank you to the Chorale staff who provided our meals today! We also took this time to celebrate the birthday of beloved staff intern, Sarah Holmes!
After lunch we went right back to rehearsing, looking at the first half of our concert this time. We broke into some quick part rehearsals to fine tune some things, and came back for some riser work. Then, the Chorale was given the best gift a choir member can be given, nap time! Unfortunately the time went quick, but we knew that after this last rehearsal it would be dinner time…which happened to be a favorite of many chorale members…tacos! It was very nice to take this time to catch up with everyone a bit more and to share fun stories and updates on life with others.
We spent some time cleaning ourselves up and collecting ourselves before our pre-concert Chorale circle. We finished that up and before we knew it, it was time to prove if our rehearsals were going to pay off. Fortunately, the Chorale definitely brought their A-game and put on a performance to be proud of. While we won’t see each other technically until next year, we will fortunately see each other again during our reunion weekend on January 18/19th. If you missed us tonight, or want to hear the chorale again, we will be performing another concert at Coshocton Presbyterian Church at 3pm on January 19, 2020!
