As we are coming to an end with workshop and saying goodbye to some of our friends who have to leave us, we are still going strong!
Today was pretty much anything but a normal day because we are so close to the concert! We started the day off with morning mindsets and breakfast, but the sad part about breakfast was that we had to say goodbye to one of our opus members because she had to leave to go do her queening duty! We miss you Audrey!
The soprano/altos sectional was so beautiful because you could really hear how we all blended together and were starting to listen to the other parts around us. Our full rehearsal is also great because everything is all coming together! Everyone knows their part and watches the conductor and to makes the songs come alive.
After lunch and part rehearsal we had our seminars. Mine was “into the words” named after “into the woods.” This seminar is led by two staff members who would play a song and dive into the words to see what they all mean and what was the main purpose of the song is. It sounds complicated, but we learned how a song could go with a character and how a song does not need words for us to understand what was happening…you can feel hear it in the music!

Our evening concert today was the most interesting part of the day because our friend Helen Welch and her band came back to perform another concert. An interesting fact about the concert was that it was specifically made for The Cardinal Chorale. The concert was AMAZING! She sounded so lovely. It was so upbeat and energized that nobody could stay still in their seats! After the concert, we all got to meet her and talk to her. She’s a really cool person and shared some tips on how to keep your voice healthy. We got to sing “Stand By Me” during her show, and “Jamaican Marketplace” before she left.
Overall day 6 of workshop was fun and sad at the same time. Our time together is almost over!
