Today was a very early morning for the Chorale, but everyone arrived at the church with an eagerness to begin the day of singing together. After gathering together to reflect on the concert and home stays the previous night, we departed the beloved city of Marion.
Once in Columbus, the choir sang for two services at Trinity United Methodist Church. During the first service, a Medal of Distinction was presented to Dr. Zebulon Highben, who has greatly contributed to the Chorale through his teachings.
After church, the group had some down time to spend together before eating a pizza lunch and boarding the bus yet again. Our destination this time: Toledo! Most Chorale members were awaiting some much needed “tacet time” to rest on the long bus ride.
Arriving and rehearsing at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Toledo, it was soon evident that the energy among the group had already begun to fade, which is typical by the third or fourth day of tour. To remedy this, Mr. Snyder gave us a pep talk (or two) and assistant director Beth Vaughn led the group in an activity to bring the energy back up. The technique never fails!
After a fabulous Italian dinner, the Chorale gave a wonderful concert in the beautiful rotunda sanctuary. The performance certainly proved that the group is well on the way to accomplishing the “grand crescendo” to the final concert.
