Opening Night!

Written by: Mattie Kiser

Saturday marked the official beginning of the 2025 Cardinal Chorale tour around Ohio!

After our homestay in Coshocton, singers met at the Presbyterian Church to add final touches to our repertoire. Then, we enjoyed a lunch provided by our very generous staff member, Erin Jobes! After the meal, it was time to embark on our journey. The Chorale boarded the coach, and we were off!

Our first stop was Morrow Manor in Chesterville. We enjoy visiting & providing entertainment for their residents. Last year during our stop here, the weather was not on our side. This year though, we had a beautiful sunny day.

Mr. Snyder and the Chorale were honored to present our Medal of Distinction to Tammy Butterman, a longtime friend of the choir. For many years, she has invited us to perform for the people of Morrow Manor and allowed us to make connections within their community. We then departed from Chesterville, heading to our evening concert location at Prospect Street United Methodist Church in Marion.

Arriving in Marion, we had a rehearsal to pay extra attention to a few pieces, and to discuss procedure for the concert. Our dinner was provided by Julie Kubbs, another great benefactor of the Chorale, along with members of the church.

At 7:00 p.m., the opening concert for the tour began! We were well-received from our audience after an amazing opening concert. After our closing, “Song of Farewell,” singers and staff left for the night with members of Prospect Street UMC & Emmanuel Lutheran Church, who were gladly willing to host us and provide fellowship and a warm bed for us. We are so grateful for this wonderful partnership and support between these two congregations.

What a wonderful start to tour! There are many more fun times to be had, so stay tuned for the rest of the week!
